Publisher’s Summary

Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

And they were liars.

For decades, the friends have kept a secret worth killing for. But now Olivia wants to tell, and Naomi sets out to find out what really happened in the woods—no matter how dangerous the truth turns out to be.

My Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The book “What Lies In The Woods” was the awesome choice I made for our Thrillers by The Bookclub’s White Elephant exchange. The descriptive wrapping immediately caught my eye, and the promise of suspense and mystery made it a no-brainer for me. Unwrapping it got me super excited to dive into the story, and the detailed description hinted at some juicy secrets waiting to be uncovered. I couldn’t wait to get lost in its pages!

  1. One summer changes the lives of three childhood friends
  2. Shocking discovery in the woods
  3. Betrayal and a secret worth killing for
  4. Discovering the dangerous truth
  5. Wild-ride thriller with unexpected twists and turns

So maybe these 5 bullet points make you pick up this book as your next read.

Book Quotes

Sometimes it seemed like the only thing I’d ever been good at was surviving being broken. I didn’t know how to be whole. So any time I felt like I was healing, I found a way to break myself again.

That’s the thing about trust, isn’t it? You gather all the evidence you can, use your brain, weigh character and past actions. But the final inch of it—that’s faith. Trust means believing in someone. It’s not just a conclusion. It’s a choice.
